Among these are the substrate integrated waveguides (SIWs), initially introduced as laminated waveguides [1, 2], that can be easily implemented using common printed circuit board (PCB) fabrication methods.
Since the introduction of SIWs, or laminated waveguides, various SIW-based components, interconnects, and circuits have been developed and their advantages are justified in comparison to their milled waveguide or transmission line based counterparts.
